Currently L5 BIE at Amazon, bored of being the sql and dashboards guy. Looking to switch to DE role and targeting meta. Good at sql, data modeling and dashboarding. Have worked with python in the past but no extensive experience and obviously no python in my current role. Where should I start to clear a DE interview at meta and become successful in the role? for DE anywhere else knowledge of python should be decent minimum alongside working knowledge of spark
DE is actually just a type of SWE. To be successful as DE in tech companies (but Amazon, Meta, Google DE roles are different at times), one should know software engineering fundamentals, principles. Leetcode wise, medium is usually good enough. Design: data processing systems. Performance tuning of data pipelines, data systems. Analytics: SQL, Data modeling, Data Warehousing principles.
Thank you! This makes sense
Got an offer recently, know exact questions in SQL and python that will be asked with 95% confidence for screen. For onsite I am aware of all patterns and strategies of ownership, product sense, data modeling, SQL and python questions asked with 90%+ confidence, Ping me if you'd like a paid mock interview. Good luck either way :)
Is this a troll
Why do you feel so? Everyone has to start somewhere :)
