I thought I did well but I received rejection after my packet went through Debrief. The reason for rejection was a shock to me. I rejected in my behavioural round. I thought I had good stories/projects to talk but looks like the interviewer didn’t buy those stories well. Both coding rounds were strong hire. System design was average hire. Behavioural was no hire. I wasn’t offered with a follow-up round as well. How should I improve my behavioral? I should have received one follow up at least :( YOE: 10+ #meta #tech
Lol meta clowns
They rejected you because there are already tons of candidates in the pipeline
Yeah. Could be. As I go through a couple of other posts where people say that it’s been months since they are waiting for a TeamMatch.
Meta HR does not share interview feedback. You had a dream.
Had the same experience a few years ago. Thought I kinda botched coding and systems design but did well in behavioral. Got rejected. Fast forward a year later, and a recruiter asked me to reapply. I asked if they could provide more feedback on why I was rejected last time. They said it was due to the behavioral round. Apparently there was some sort of “red flag” in the feedback. It was pretty surprising. No additional info, and I decided to pass on the reinterview. What if all this time we’ve been focusing on the wrong things (DSA and SD) for Meta interviews?
Thanks for sharing your story. Focusing on “DSA and SD” isn’t wrong. If you don’t pass coding, then that’s a clear rejection. SD depends on your depth of knowledge. If you understand every tech choice you make, then you will know that you did well in SD. But Behavioural is something which you can’t easily understand and can’t be sure that you did well. It’s easy to reject a candidate based on behavioral if panel feels that it’s just an average hire.
For sure, didn’t meant to imply DSA & SD are unimportant, rather that we overweight them for prep.
I am waiting on my onsite interview results and the behavioral round is what I am worried. The interview kept asking a series of questions without interrupting or rarely any follow up. Either I did very well or he found a red flag. Hard to tell.
Follow ups are for lack of signal, not for second chances.
Thanks.
Damn you did good…. I just bombed my sys design man… i mocked so many times to manage my time but it was all fu*ked during the interview lol. (Dnt know why i never looked at the clock). Should guaranteed to be a reject but hope they share the feedback.. Whats the cool down time for meta anyways? 6 months? I’d reapply asap cause shit is all fresh and feels should be lot easier on the second try..
Could you anonymously elaborate on some examples you used for behavioral round? Perhaps the feedback was no hire as they didn’t see your stories hitting E5. I’m just throwing out ideas about why this could’ve happened.
It’s mostly they are trying to find ways of not hire unless you have done exceptionally well. So many people in the pipeline and not many openings. They have become picky again. I am sure 2-3 months ago wld have been a hire or a Downlevel.
How did you know you were classified a “no hire “ for only behavioral
Meta recruiters give concrete feedback when you are rejected.
