Good job for preventing CCP from buying up American corporations, startups, and land via β€˜investors’.

Yes our biggest investor pulled the plug, what could go wrong

    • Well investors do pull up the price. But losing a big investor is also not a wise thing to see. Hot money does have its purpose. Finical industry relies on hot money flowing through.

Did you want to wait until your children's US became a province - by kicking the can down the road? Recessions are what keep economies self-sustaining. Just like bull-runs, recessions are necessary.

Pulls up NYC, SF RE price, yes.

But as a percentage of GDP, these are rounding errors.

Capitalism needs capital. Shutting your doors to money is never good for your economy.

It may be a good thing. Like with intermittent fasting, toxins of an economy need to get flushed out once in a while.

hi op. thanks for your reply. IMO if you know the conflict between US and Britian around two centuries ago, you should know how IP theft from Europe to US made US the current industrial leader. China is basically doing the same thing we did before. The question is will we, the tech workers, benefit from the fact that China becomes a competitor with US in the tech market, or not? A good read of how US transfered tech from Britain https://www.apnews.com/b40414d22f2248428ce11ff36b88dc53

Yeah and look where that left the British? So you’re just arguing for the US to be more stringent in protecting its IP.

Obviously we benefit from China not stealing our IP, otherwise they can benefit from cheaper labor and lower standards and CCP bankroll to drive US companies and workers out of jobs.

I’m not arguing for any statement. I’m just wondering what's the cost and the benefit of the rising of China in tech.
I think why Britain left behind is arguable. but facebook benefit from the rising of China by arguing that if US regularizes FB heavily China will win the battle.
      see a recent TechCrunch article

also regularized IP transfer from US to China helps the Chinese tech companies grow. No Google nor Amazon nor fb allowed in China, they built their own versions (Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent). As a result, the corresponding Chinese tech companies rise and compete with US ones in the international market. If we continue to block the IP transfer, Chinese engineers will just become more motivated to invent their own versions and hone their skills (e.g. Huawei will build their own mobile OS to replace Android, let alone their successful CPU business due to US regularization). Is it beneficial to us?

Not said they steal entire companies obviously, IP theft is more nuanced than that.

There have been a few reports produced on it. You can read up here: https://www.uscc.gov/sites/default/files/Research/How%20Chinese%20Companies%20Facilitate%20Tech%20Transfer%20from%20the%20US.pdf

We have more than enough capital in the states. No need for capital that comes with a big proven potential
      Of IP theft.
