Hi, I'm trying to plot my next career move. I've been talking to a lot of recruiters and they said they can't beat my comp and they said at best they could match or some have even suggested taking a pay cut in exchange for equity at some startups. I'm not sure what to do here- have I peaked wrt total comp? I'm curious what everyone else here makes with my level of experience.
Come to silicon valley and it will easily be beaten. My wife has 2 yr work exp and makes that much here. If you switch every 2-3yrs about 4 times you can prob reach high 300s to 400k in silicon valley.
Thanks - not really in a position to move right now because of family considerations. Curious if anyone in NYC is pulling that much in though
2 yrs and 225k? BS
Bloomberg offers me 240k
How many years of experience do you have?

Totally haven’t peaked. You’re just talking to the wrong people. Which, given you’re at capital one, you have a history of doing. Go somewhere like goog or fb. You may need to take a temp step down and “pay dues” but you haven’t peaked, you’ve just found a local maxima.
Rather be at Capital One than a glorified taxi company that has a history with skirting the law and misogyny
If you were at Uber you’d have better TC. Just sayin’.
Try hedge fund, plenty are there.. two sigma, Bridgewater, Balyasny..
How much can I expect at my level? I'm having a hard time finding a reference point
$230-250k was very common when I got their offers (2 yrs back).. I believe it increased in last 2 yrs..
When was the last time you changed jobs? That is the secret to increase your TC.
I’m also planning my escape out of C1. You need to keep looking. Two Sigma, Google, FB, Snap, will all get you above that. Base will be below $200k but with RSUs/bonus you’ll get there.
Jet.com pays above that as well, and I have friends there that love it.
Nope competitive new grads can get that comp at a few companies here with competing offers. Not to say that isn’t a lot of money even in NYC.
What does the Quantitative Software Engineering position at Two Sigma pay? What’s the breakdown of base salary vs bonus? I see from H1Bs at Two Sigma have $175k base, but don’t know there bonus.
Do you like working there?
You haven’t peaked, you just need to work at a better company. I have only a few years of experience but make >$300k at Google in NYC.
