115k in Virginia, compared to 130k in San Diego. Would it be wise to move?
Much much better weather... the beach and good tacos. I have no idea if that tc is enough though.
Might end up with a TC of about 145k max
If you’re just starting out, think of this as your starter tc, and grow from there.
How much would it make sense to ask for given they don’t pay that well in San Diego to beat current Virginia comp?
What’s the take home pay after taxes in Virginia ?
Approx 3400-3600 after taxes
Stay in Virginia. You’ll say money in the long run.
To maintain same lifestyle, $115K in Blacksburg, VA equates to $185K in San Diego, CA. https://money.cnn.com/calculator/pf/cost-of-living/index.html
Blacksburg is cheaper, my area is close to DC so kinda little expensive than Blacksburg. But that’s sir sharing this screen shot. I feel the range should be much higher for me.
More relevant screenshot for someone who lives in NOVA
Virginia costs much lesser than CA. Nova is growing, so the opportunities are available too.
I applied for a 6 months, no calls. All my calls were from California.
San Diego hands down. One of the best places to live TC requirement is exaggerated
Where in VA? Arlington / Alexandria is comparable to SD in COL.
In Vienna
I did SD on 110k. It’s livable but you won’t save a ton. A studio will run you 1500 min here
Studio stars at 1900 here, if I get lucky
I live ~5 minutes driving distance to Tyson’s corner and spend $1800/month on a 2b/2b. So it costs me $900/month and all utilities are included.
California is much more expensive
It depends, NOVA is similar is cost to SD.
