I’m working as a Project Manager (TVC) at Google, but am unhappy living in the bay and want to transition elsewhere. I originally signed up for a 1 year contract, but it was extended to 2 years. I’m actively looking for other jobs so I can move away from the bay. Ideally I’d like to find a new job elsewhere ASAP, but if I don’t, is it considered bad form to leave my contract early anyway? Will 1.5 years look bad on my resume?
Less than 1.5 years at Google as a TVC. Left for a company that actually gives a shit about me. Very senior role at a top ten. Don't leave until you have something else lined up. Nobody is going to turn you away because you tell them you were looking for an opportunity with more growth or wanted to leave the area.
Where do you want to go? I definitely agree with SMDj70. Line something else up first. It’s nice to have options. I’m a TPgM. There isn’t much exciting work outside of the Bay Area
Absolutely not, left my 1 year contract after 9 months, nobody cared. But I do recommend having a job lined up before you leave.
I left after 4 months because of a “once in a lifetime opportunity" to join a startup and had no problem.
