I'm curious to hear from people that work at Hulu. What are your current thoughts on working there? Does Disney buying Fox have any impact on you guys? Curious to hear any recent juicy rumors that are going on over at Hulu.
How is Hulu still in the market with Netflix dominating the way it is?
Netflix dominance is not assured that's for sure.
Their service isn’t very good .. not much content ..
Sales isn’t finalized. So no impact yet. Working here is pretty sweet
How long have you worked there? How does it compare to some other places you have been?
I’d say that if someone was going to win control, we’re glad it was Disney instead of Comcast. Who knows what changes it will bring, but all indications seem to point towards Hulu being a point of focus, investment, and growth for Disney. And we’ve done plenty well working alongside Netflix for years. (We actually have more content.) And yes, I’d say most people are very happy working here. Definitely way better WLB than Netflix - or Amazon.
Thanks for the feedback! What other places have you worked that you are comparing Hulu to? I agree it does seem better if Disney takes more control especially since they have Ambitions of having their own streaming service. If they were to buy out the remaining stake that Warner Brothers and Comcast has then they could potentially use Hulu as their streaming service. If it were to contain the entire Disney and Fox Library worth of content and that content was not available on any other streaming service, it would be a very compelling alternative to Netflix.
haha i guess this amazon guy could not stay in amzon anymire and wanna try hulu.
I don't recommend it if you're in tech. Most people saying good things haven't worked here long. The business is good, but it's a media company, not tech. Innovation is lacking, and leadership is poor. Most teams are working to replace in house software with vendor solutions and management has made it clear they don't mind firing and layoff. You can make more at Google Venice and work far less
Thanks for the feedback! What do you mean that the business is good? Do you mean that Hulu is doing well from a business perspective?
I agree with this, although not sure you will work less. Hulu isn’t a tech company and engineering quality isn’t valued here. Also it’s very fire driven but generally good wlb
I dont agree necessarily that engineering quality isnt valued across the board. But it is a little team-dependent, hopefully the new tech leadership can do something about it. Some team have better practices than others. Since hulu has decided to take on live tv besides vod, it has opened a new can of worms, and there is still a huge amount of engineering problems to solve
Curious as well. Seems like no one, even the employees themselves, ever speaks about anything.
I think Hulu is rather small with respect to headcount. I would guess under a thousand people work at Hulu.
We’re actually at about 2500 lol.
