Got an offer from a company in San Diego, 210K TC(Base+Bonus+yearly vested RSU), Hardware design. Is it considered good for 10 YOE with PhD? What is the equivalent salary in Bay Area?
PhD in Hardware Design? Which company? (Take the offer btw 210 in SD is a better life than SF @500 tc)
Come on here. That's a good salary for the region. Very good weather. Nice people. Great mexican food. Cheap shopping by the border. Cheap chicas across the border. I love San Diego PS: 10 years exp will get you Staff level at Qcom. For Staff the base is $130-$145k . Yearly bonus 10-15% . RSUs maybe $15k per year. So I would say your TC is very good.
You will have a great quality of life in San Diego with 100k+ in base. In the Bay Area you'd need at least triple that to come close.
My base is 160k. The living cost of Bay Area is 3 times that of San Diego?
Maybe not in things like rent or food (though it is much cheaper) but for overall quality of life it's hard to beat San Diego. Fantastic weather year round, slow, relaxed way of life. I'll end up there one day.
