Only when you use it with the intent of demean, humiliate, or harass a person.

How is this law even constitutional? Government cannot punish people for the content of their speech

Wtf? This is exactly what the first amendment protects? There is no way that they a governmental organization would try and do this. The first amendment specifically says that you can’t be charged with a crime for anything you say (later modified that you can’t say things that may cause panic and immediate physical harm because of the words specifically).

Then I realized it was the nypost.

From a google search of. “Does the first amendment protect”...

“The U.S. Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled that hate speech is legally protected free speech under the First Amendment.”

Guidance, lol. What a joke. These insane liberals should all take constitution 101 before they tell ppl what to say and what not to say. It is my constitutional right to have the freedom of speech

Honestly, does anyone think this is a good idea?

Like there is a reason why freedom of speech is numero uno in the bill of rights.

Honest question liberals, do you think that increasing taxes, restricting our speech etc is going to end in something other than an oppressive government?

NYC, the only city which has the guts to do this. Smaller, so called liberal cities like Seattle are too dumb to understand they are discriminating against immigrants.

Why don’t u invite some illegal aliens to stay in your million house in Seattle first? U could help to fight for the discrimination

No problem. I am thinking to rent out my basement as an apartment. Has a separate entrance and can build a small kitchen there. They will be welcome to apply!

I like that they have jobs and obey the law, unlike the meth head American born white trash in Seattle.

So you are saying NY is more "prosperous" since it had become a sanctuary City? Wow.

Fine; don’t threaten illegals; just report them and their illegal workplace.

Someone with pockets deep enough for a long drawn out legal fight should stand in the middle of Times Square and shout out "fuck the illegal aliens."

Let's test the constitutionality of this garbage 'law'

  • From the article: “A hotel prohibits its housekeepers from speaking Spanish while cleaning because it would ‘offend’ hotel guests or make them uncomfortable,” reads one hypothetical.

    WTF?

The three hypotheticals all use business owners as the perp (in the article anyway), I guess because they think they can enforce it with businesses.

U do know there is difference between private business and government? U probably also need to retake civil 101
      Sep 28
    • Yes, but I'm not sure how that relates to the issue I find here. A hotel should be able to tell their employees what language they need to communicate in on the clock.
      Sep 28
    • Microsoft pig pig
The issue is it is between the private business and the employees. They have a contract. If u think ur employer violates the contract, u can sue them. But it is not the business of government to tell business or any private citizen what to say and what not to say. Other than coding, learn something else before you are fully brainwashed by liberals

    • It sounds like we agree.
