Is it a good time to invest in 401k given the current market volatility & uncertainty? We could see a recession soon and stocks will nosedive. I don’t want to take a huge hit on the 401k to start with.
Then do nothing. Eat your money - it will stay safe in your tummy. Remember, noob: time in market always beats timing the market.
Good suggestion. I should max out in 401k this year. Any particular funds to choose? Or shall I just go with target dated funds?
If you're getting a 401k match, you just need the market to lose less than your match. Don't pass up free money. 50% match means the market needs to lose 33% for you to break even. Pretty much a no-brainer.
Don't choose Target date funds... If you have access to vanguard... Go for vtsax (today stock market) and vbtlx ( today bond market) and forget to investments. Go for 80:20 or 60:40 depending on your risk appetite.
Read common Sense on mutual fund by jack Bogle. He is the finer of vanguard and the inventor of index funds
Don’t time your market. Buy and hold for 30 years+.
I have access to Fidelity through work. Any suggestions on good ETFs to choose? I can do 80:20 split.
Google the three fund portfolio
At least get the max company match. Free $$$
ETFs or MFs there is not much difference
“Time in the market beats timing the market”
Time the fed. Market with 1-2% gdp growth isnt going to produce much compounded interest.
We're at over 3% right now...
