I am honestly curious if I am on a good or bad track for 401k. Don’t call it an anther dick size competition. I got a small one... and I started 401k late.. Considering 401k match is not hugely different from a company to a company, what is your balance, age, and portfolio allocation Mine first 190k/42/ 60%stock fund, 40%bond fund
117k/33/90-10. Started late when I was 27.
260k/37/90% stock,10% bond, started 7 years ago
Wow!
50k/23/ 90%stock 10%bond Maxing my 401k now, and will stop contributing as much soon. Doing this to get compounded effect and tax break.
Why would you stop max contribution?
My current TC is 180k, so I lose some of each paycheck every month and might need it for mortgage soon. Otherwise I’ll still contribute max (so I can get nice goog 50% match) as long as my TC goes up a reasonable amount.
150k/30/40%stocks 60 bonds
Isn't that rather conservative for a 30 year old?
🤔 I got to re-evaluate it I think. You think I should go more aggressive?
80K / 33 / 90-10. Started late, 3 years ago. Btw, OP, i think 60-40 is conservative for your age, forget about “bonds allocation equal to age” rule, you should at least be 70-30 to 80-20.
Looking at the postings here, I am kind of agreeing with you...
300k / 41 / 5% bonds, 20% international, 75% us index funds. Started 401k late at 28, since 35 have done max contribution each year. Also have other retirement accounts...454k total.
