im getting duped right? yoe: 3 + masters degree
yeah should be at least 110k at any company in NYC, more like 125-150 at a good company
Wow with 3 years of experience you should be able to get at about 100K. You can barely survive in NYC on a 70K salary.
The thing in the above that is right is surviving in NY on 70k. 3 years of experience is nothing much in most industries. What accounts? What projects? What success and growth? What demonstrated leadership? Being somewhere or doing something for 3 years doesn’t make an expert. 10 years does... Maybe the OP didn’t show up well in the interview and they are throwing them a bone. You don’t know. Lots of bursts from people’s assess here. OP, it’s an offer. It could be better. Are you someone’s nephew? Consider it a way into a company, but getting to the right $$ isn’t easy here. Maybe work elsewhere, get what was missing, and try again. A question of “what was I missing to draw such a lowball offer?” isn’t inappropriate. Maybe someone will tell you. Good luck.
Thanks all! Appreciate the broken down response AltitudeX. I am definitely no expert and came in to the APM role knowing nothing about PMing. However I was a lead client rep for the product for 2 years prior and showed solid leadership, helped grow the team from 4 to 8 reps, and have seen tons of rev growth since. It definitely was a bone considering the company I work for and the way the opportunity was presented to me. I had to fight for just the 70k. But now that I’m in the role there seems to be way more work and responsibilities than I’m being paid for. I still am extremely grateful for the role and all I just don’t know if what I’m doing is worth more or not because my company is so insular. Regardless thanks again for the advice. I am currently on the hunt looking for something a bit more challenging and hopefully for more $!
From my experience when a company gives you a leg up like this it can very often be difficult to get your pay to match the job and responsibilities you have. Unfortunately, that often means that you have to change companies to get your pay in line with your job.
Chase has a more realistic answer, everyone at tech companies on Blind equates a few years XP must mean 120-160k base, you could definitely get more though.
Absolutely.
Got an offer for 93k in nyc with 2 YOE and with a bachelors in cs
Was that from Prudential?
Nope a big bank
If it’s a better position than you have now may be worth taking. Do you make more than 70k right now?
Yes
