Worked in banking for 5 years
Which city? What industry do you cover?
LA, Consumer
How are the hours in LA?
They are typical of MM banking. 60 hours+ depending on week and your mix of deal/pitch work. (Can get as high as 90-100 hours, but that’s rare - part of the biz!)
What's your take on opportunities in LA vs NYC?
Would you recommend someone in their early 30s to move from corporate finance to Investment banking if they have zero exposure to investment banking?
It very much depends on the role you can land. What kind of corporate finance do you do? M&A? You’d want to come in as an associate rather than an analyst.
M&A and FP&A
Is your firm looking for an analyst?
Most unethical story you know of regarding T&E?
Clients or bankers?
Recession?
No clue
Would you classify your job as 'glamorous ' relatively or is there a lot of pitch book ppt work? Are the models and bottles stories really true?
Sometimes it is, when you’re in a meeting with a big-time PE firm for example. Sometimes it’s a pure shit work grind. That mix obviously skews towards the glamorous side as you progress.
Wells?
Said the idiot, 9 questions down after just a few minutes...
Yearly TC over those 5 years?
Increases rapidly from start to now. $90k all in year 1 (in 2014 and stub bonus) to well over $250k now.
$250 all in? MBA? What is your wlb?
