Location: DC metro area YoE: 5 Role: Flexible. Hiring for cloud practice in federal space. Just determining fit. Questions: 1. What are salary bands at Levels 8 and 9? (They may try to get me at level 9) 2. What does Annual review cycle look like from timing perspective? (Want to see if I will be prorated first year) 3. Is 401K vested Jan 1st after 1 year? (Meaning Dec would be best time to join?) Anything else I should def be negotiating? Sign on, pto, proration, level, work from home, etc. Thanks!
Definitely ask for sign on bonus
Whats a good sign on bonus range?

ByteDance is officially fucked
Most people I know who have come in as an experience hire have received between 95-110 at level 9 in AFS, idk how high level 8 would go but I would assume around 125-130. If you have 5 YOE I wouldn’t accept an offer at level 9 though since they promote internally to that level within 3 years post grad on average. Reviews are semi annually happening in May and November, compensation announcements are in November you won’t qualify for a raise or bonus within a cycle if you join after 8/1 401k vests 16 months after joining As far as negotiating your offer, they reformed their pto allotments to be based on level, so idk how much flexibility you would get there level 9-8 get 21 days pto, level 7 and lower get 25. Remote work is on a project to project basis and is also heavily reliant on your client since you will be working in the federal sector and they are very restrictive on where people are allowed to access their data from. Hope this helps
Thanks much! I hope they get me at L8.
