Accenture or Verizon??

Hello Blind people, I am having trouble deciding between these two companies for my first job out of college. A little bit about me. I’m a senior at RIT studying MIS. I have held two internships, one being an IT security internship this past summer and I’m looking to get into cyber for my career. The two jobs I am interested in are with Verizon and Accenture. Verizon has offered me their technology leadership development program (which offers a cyber security rotation) . While Accenture’s offer is for a entry level security analyst position. So my question is what company would you choose if you were in my position? This is comparing apples to oranges but I’m curious to see what this community has to say about these companies. Thanks!

Congrats! Verizon is more of a tech company than Accenture. Accenture is not a good brand. More of a sweatshop

Thanks for your input! Most people I’ve talked to said to go with Verizon.

Verizon is not a tech company. It is 100% a telco. Will never be tech with out new sr leadership.

TC or GTFO

Verizon, no doubt. That leadership program is a really good gig if you can get in and make a solid impression. Opens lots of doors

Would you happen to know the TC of the leadership program?

Verizon nsIA64 Nov 12, 2019

I don’t sorry but you get exposure to a large amount of people and orgs. I’ve seen lots of folks come out of that program and into roles they never would have got without it.

Damn! That’s impressive

Accenture is great for consulting experience which will help propel you in the future. Verizon is good for hands on tech. Can’t speak to the culture at Accenture, but Verizon is a fucked up company with mostly shitty leaders. Eyes wide open...

Verizon GvHz3oB Nov 13, 2019

TBH Accenture isn't too much better. I had some managers who escaped em

Verizon Digital Media Services DeepInGuru Nov 13, 2019

Sad state of reality then

Both good companies. If I were right out of college again and had those opportunities I would probably go with Accenture but that’s just me.

I would say Verizon. The tech leadership rotation will expose you to things that you may not see at Accenture. It could take your career in a direction you didn’t expect.

FYI, I think ATT outsourced a bunch of people to Accenture. Not sure if that means anything, but seemed interesting.

Verizon Digital Media Services Ounm64 Nov 13, 2019

If you hate yourself and life, go with Accenture.
