Got offers from Slalom (build) and Accenture Toronto. Compensation is almost the same, Accenture is a bit more. I heard Slalom does lot of cloud projects and Accenture lot of on-prem big data projects. Which one is better?
I’m a data engineer
TC...?
Accenture
TC?
Slalom, if you can’t get a legitimate data job that is. Consulting firms barely do any data work
Accenture because if somewhat technically proficient you will have ur pick of the litter of projects.
Sensitive here as I don't want to necessarily d0x myself... I don't work in the Toronto market but I've worked closely with the team there and some of the folks that setup the _build center. I will say that we do a lot, lot, lot of data work, the majority of it, especially in the build network, in the cloud (aws, gcp primarily).
How much is the TC for SDE positions?
There's not enough detail to answer this so "it depends." Build or market, consultant or engineer, architect, leader, tech, certs, geographic location, how urgent is the need for your skills?
Slalom has a much better culture but is a much more localized structure (harder to transfer). Accenture is way larger and you can more easily transfer market/teams if you have a good relationship with your partner
Slalom culture is way better than Accenture today. Go for slalom..based on my first hand experience with both.
Are you a SWE? Avoid both. People I know at slalom seem happy though.
