I am not an AE, but work with a lot of SF top dogs. Seems to me like the best of the best are just wired that way. They are hustlers and grinders. All of them have a sales swagger and confidence even when they are losing. There is no secret to climbing in sales, all the people I know at the top were president’s/admirals/platinum club AEs when they were younger. You outsell your peers you will move up. Above being said, I am still amazed how some AEs can just get lucky with an account and have a big year. It is the AEs that do that every year no matter what they get that are in the right career.
