Advertising for startup company.

I have a startup company. How do I get websites like verge, Android police to write an article about it?

Contact them and ask. Seriously, that's how it works. They will likely want something in return though. If you have a blog with decent traffic, they may ask for a few back links. They may not be interested if you're super early stage, unless you have a great pitch. Your best bet is to connect with one of their writers, strike up a conversation, and bring up your company. Maybe they'll be interested, maybe not.

Alternatively to the above I'd suggest signing up for HARO alerts on their website. Easy way to get free advertising if you have good articulate answers. Allows people that are great at content and are credible to get their name out there.

Or, act like a professional company and hire a PR firm. It's how the system works. Website authors don't want to think of ideas all day, so they ask the PR companies if there is anything good this week, the PR companies tell the authors what all their clients are doing this week and some authors pick it up. This is why a lot of tech PR people are attractive. Everyone wants to have lunch with the good looking PR person... ;-) Going it on your own is not sustainable. You'd have to call everyone just to get a few hits.

Absolutely agree. For startups trying to get their name out there it's easiest to bring an agency onboard or hire 2-3 people that manage your PR/Web strategy internally. If you're a niche business hiring expertise is more important than bringing on an agency that may not know your market.

Cant really afford hiring when we are both making any money.
