Advice for Investment

I have around $1.5M in India. I send that money few years back and now the money is just sitting mostly in did deposits and some in equity mutual funds. If I bring here by in US (bay area), what are some safe investment options. I know reverse exchange rates are killing right now.

ot, I’m so jealous you can easily bring money from India😂

It's my money which I send from US to India. As per tax consultant, bringing it won't be an issue.

where I come from, money flows unidirectionally

thuglife wants safe investment advice. You ain’t no thug.

Nobody is thug when it comes to "safe" investment 😋 Yes I can buy stocks or I can buy home, etc... But little hesitant since market is all time high

Market is always at ATH right before breaking into new high, that's not a factor. Check now what difference it would have made if you bought a house in your city at 1995 vs 1997 or 2012 vs 2014.Or 2004 vs 2006. Long term, was the difference meaningful?

You should plan your king life retirement in india, with 10crores you are set for life

LeanTaaS thuglife OP Oct 2, 2018

Yes. I thought the same thing and went to India for good. Came back to bay area after 2 yrs.... Depends on the city, but now a days, even 10 cr is no sufficient in India.

Amazon Pleezz Oct 2, 2018

Why is 10 crores not enough?genuine question.Shouldnt it be possible to live comfortably on 1000$ a month in India ?

Invest in us index funds and leave it there.

Depends on future plans and time horizon. If you plan to buy a house in the bay area, just buy it now. If you plan to move back to India in a few years, leave it there. If you plan to save it for decades (e.g retirement) just buy VOO. If you might need it in a year or two, buy US 1yr bonds. All depends.
