I really love my job but my manager and I don’t trust each other. We look fine on the surface, but I don’t think my manager will help me on promotion. The good news is that I am senior enough that I can work independently and he doesn’t bug me. Should I switch team or look for other job?
Life is so much more enjoyable when you have a good relationship with management. I cant understand why people stay in bad situations like this. There are so many awesome companys deaperate to hire good people.
How strong is the lack of trust? If he didn't trust you, would he actually let you work independently or would he be checking your every move? Do you not trust him solely because you think he won't help on promotion? Did you reach this conclusion about him because he thinks you lack the skills necessary to lead a group of people?

Yes. If that doesn't work find another job. If you and your manager do not trust each other that is going to spell trouble down the road.
