Affirm vs Amazon vs Vmware vs Quip for New Grad

Got offers from these companies. Also very likely will get an offer from Databricks. Need some advice on comparing them. TCs are all standard new grad package. Amazon is about 40k lower than the others for the first year. What are pros and cons of working for these companies? thanks.

What team for Amazon and VMware?

Bloomberg JhzT51 OP Sep 28, 2019

VMware Propel program, will rotate 2 teams in the first year. Amazon offer only has location and compensation information. I don't even know what team is the offer from. Is there a team match when joining as new grad?

Either way, if you went far to get an offer from Amazon, I'd go with them, as interviews get harder as you gain more experience.

Amazon pros: Looks good on your cv Ability to transfer teams and work on anything you want Good growth Cons: Bad WLB Crazy deadlines Sociopaths managers Oncall That being said, if you’re in a good team at Amazon, it’s not bad. It’s just that bad teams can be insanely bad, burn you up, and create long term mental health issues.

Since you are a new grad and if you are motivated, you should work where you have growth/impact.

Except quip and vmware, you cannot go wrong.

Why do you think so? I mean, quip doesn't really look exciting, I get it. But isn't VMWare supposed to carry some prestige?

It's not viewed as sexy tech anymore :c

Databricks is probably the hottest startup in the big data scene. Top LinkedIn startups list two years in a row. They are growing like crazy. If you want to be part of something new and exciting I'd go with Databricks. Else, I'd choose Amazon, but it is likely that you will not matter that much wrt impact.

Winter is coming. Too risky to join a startup at this time.

Amazon will always be there, come join us 😈

Pretty sure databricks looks 5x better than the rest on your resume

Can't believe people voted for Amazon with $40k less pay than the rest. That would have been my last pick, especially considering its awful WLB and culture, and its forced attrition policy.

Bloomberg Enig16 Oct 1, 2019

Most people who voted for amazon probably work for amazon
