As an Individual contributor who has to do all the real coding I feel like Agile is such a waste of time ... we have spring planning, daily stand ups, reviews , retrospects, demo sessions every sprint !!! Sometimes these meetings take away 3-4 hours from my day !!! And daily stand ups can be very aggressive... Has it worked for you ?
Agile is better for new projects, Kanban is better when in production and maintenance
Ours is a new project.... It’s a nightmare ... we are stuck for days on setup ... and managements keeps questioning why the burn down is low ...
This is what works. Create granular user stories. Especially if you using jira or trello. Instead of programming a sql and testing it, break it into 3 tasks. Design sql, create sql, test sql. Your burn down and velocity will be wonderful.
Scrum is great in theory. In practice I've never seen it work properly.
Like socialism, when it fails the supports just say it wasn’t implemented correctly!
Who knows.
I'm an IC and think Agile is ok. It is its implemention in the form of Scrum that I hate. I think kanban is much better.
