This south Florida based startup called BoatSetter claiming to be the AirBnB of boat rentals hit me up. Nothing good ever comes out of Florida. Why would a founder try to start a company in Florida, where there is no access to venture capital and talent is non-existent?
Florida is not a bad place to do startup. Warm weather, beaches and food scene is 10X better than SV. You can always visit SV to get VC money, recruit and return to nice coastal town in FL where you don’t burn away all your money in housing.
I would venture to guess the boats are the reason. This seems like a bad idea for a company. Its expected that a boat breaks every time you use it. Why would I want someone else breaking my boat.
A jetski or smaller vessel would probably break less. But still, a giant like Uber or AirBnb or Turo could easily add boats and crush them.
