Have an L4 offer with airbnb engineering, would love to know which teams I should be targeting, and what teams I should actively avoid? Feel this is the right forum to ask, please share your experiences/wisdom. Offer TC: 320k, 8 years of experience.
L4 at 8 YoE would be too low. Try for L5. At L4 you would be competing with 25 yr olds.
YOE is irrelevant. If OP was doing L4 work he won’t get higher on the transfer. Worst case, if they are really under leveled, they will get a promo in a year to L5.
@xfeftr how do you know L5 was doing L5 work and L6 was doing L6 work in previous company? OP you need to improve your resume. I’ve seen people with much less YOE than u get L5
Welcome to the company! You don’t need to make this decision until the second or third week in bootcamp. You’ll have an opportunity to speak with people from all of the different teams you’re interested in beforehand. And you can always search our internal blind for dirt on any given team once you join.
Thanks for the replies, the reason I am asking before bootcamp is that the recruiter wants me to pick a team ahead of time.
Yeah, it seems like the company is try to move towards pre-allocation. I think you could tell the recruiter you really don't want to be pre-allocated -- the bootcamp process is still very much designed to help you pick a team. In my experience, most people joining now are pre-allocated, though.
Totally unrelated to your question but do you mind sharing the interview experience? Were the coding questions really hard?
The questions were leetcode hard. You should be ok if you can do all of the ones tagged airbnb.
does ur offer have the CTO as ur manager?
