Airbnb product management difficult to get into?

I'm a product manager (20 months in role-business analyst beforehand) at a lending tech company, but on the side I invest in real estate and have 3 Airbnb listings that I own and operate (4 soon!). I'd love to work on Airbnb's product, particularly on the owner/listing management side. Does anyone know how difficult it would be to land there and if it's a good place to work? Currently live in the Midwest but would potentially be willing to relocate.

Property mgmt isn't airbnbs vision. It's a good place to work and not that hard to get a job there at this point (they're huge)

I'm aware that property management isn't Airbnb's vision.

they prob have only few PM roles and require some technical background

Well, first of all potentially would relocate is problem 1. Of course you'd need to come out to the Bay. Two, PM for listing is a very narrow target for a role here. You would need impeccable timing, luck, and mad credentials. And we'd still probably hire someone internally or take in a referral instead. Goal should be, how do I get into airbnb? How do I navigate to that particular PM role.

Truth.

Thanks. It's more a hypothetical question than anything. What qualifies as 'mad credentials'? I would think that being the target customer (own Airbnb listings) and being product manager already would in and of itself be quite a credential.

not a lot of open PM listings at Airbnb and hasn't been for the past year

Lots of misconceptions in this thread. I would take y6012e's advice.

Airbnb is already Consulting the advice of different property management companies to develop something for owner / managers who are using Airbnb.

Take steps that get yourself closer to this goal. Come apply for a PM job that is available. Then, switching internally to the exact seat you want will be a lot easier when it opens up! And yes, knowing and using the product definitely does give you a leg up, especially if you can use that to articulate a really compelling story about why you're passionate about the product and the space. Best of luck!
