I have 6 yoe with a TC of around 295k right now. The two offers that I’ve gotten are drastically different. Airbnb is clearly more but it is paper money. Fb is a great name for the resume and the first year has a great signing but if I don’t manage to get promoted in 6 months (like they tell me) or even a year, then TC would be less than my current. What are yall opinions on them and why? What should I ask/negotiate for? Airbnb: (Haven’t negotiated yet) Lvl 5 200k Base 630k RSU with 1 year cliff 20% One time bonus Facebook: (After negotiations) E4 160k Base 300k RSU with no cliff 100k sign on bonus 10% target bonus
What’s the 20% one time bonus thing for Airbnb?
What teams are these for?
Both companies are bootcamp so unknown as of now
What was the initial offer of fb before negotiations? Congrats!
No... they wrote that in the post. That’s pretty much the max E4 offer barring special circumstances.
No... I am asking what was the TC before the negotiations. The first verbal offer.
Btw, getting promoted after 6 months in Facebook is rare. It usually needs two reviews cycles with good outcomes. Targeting 1 year is more reasonable, but is still a stretch. Don’t believe everything Facebook recruiters say. They tell this to all people.
I like the Airbnb offer I bet you could get a sign on added to that. Don’t forget to choose the job with the best opportunity for learning new skills and advancing your career long term. Also which has the better boss; huge factor. Would you mind revealing your job title? Just curious.
We don’t have levels or titles at Yelp so my title is just Software Engineer
You should have gotten E5 at Facebook
Yea that’s what I thought, I pushed for it but they kept giving the usual bs excuses. They would give me another onsite and then give a completely different unrelated reason after it
You can come back in 1-2 years and get in as 5 or go in as 4 and try to get promoted. Which is not hard
The 20% bonus is annual not a one time thing. You may also have a signing bonus.
Is %20 sign on bonus or annual cash bonus?
I can elect for either. Would you prefer one over the other?
I think you are wrong. Clarify with your recruiter. I think %20 annual bonus is for everyone, you do not need to elect for.
