I was trying to stay out of politics today but this is just irredeemably tone-deaf and ugly.

guys. instead of attacking the foundation of our democracy (a free press,) how about saying fuck saudi arabia instead? not gonna lie, this wording from NYT pisses me off, too. but let's stay united -AS AMERICANS- and remember who our *real* enemies are. republicans do shitty things. democrats do shitty things. but neither political party even holds a candle to the insane human and civil rights abuses of many other countries.

Can you list a single example of that happening in the western world? Can you list a single example where a democracy was founded because the citizens had rights to bear arms?
      Sep 11
    • Facebook, The answer is United States of America. We could kicked British asses because enough people with arms thought that it was the right thing to do. Compare that with other colonized asian countries where citizens did not have weapons to fight the tyrannical collonial empires.

Oh, and I also believe that slavery would have ended much sooner if enough black people had weapons.

loving the smart and thoughtful dialogue here. yay blind community.

fully wholly totally support right to arms. BUT. keep in mind that the whole POINT of 2nd amendment was a citizen check on power. the predominant form of tyranny/oppression/injustice right now is not violence or brute force. it's financial. if you want to fight, it has to be through super PACs, think tanks, campaigning, promoting awareness and civic engagement from all citizens.

That’s why the first step was not letting Hillary, funded in billions of dollars by super PACs, win

It’s likely on purpose; isn’t NYT supposed to be super smart?

The same way Obama never said those words. But saying “airplanes took aim” is just on a whole new level of gaslighting and denying the truth and sacrifice.

Airplanes don’t aim themselves. Islamic terrorists aimed them.

Islamic terrorists trained in Pakistan, funded by Saudi Arabia is the problem. The plane is not. So that's the whole problem.

A start would be to avoid CNN, NYT & WashPo. There are plenty of good independent journalists, local publications, left-of/right-of center publications.

      What areas of topics?

I prefer: BBC, Wall St. Journal, The Hill.

And certain writers/commentators from: Daily Wire, Fox News (the news portion, not the pundits), The Economist, local news publications.

  • Atleast they didn't say "some people did something".
Its so disgusting that murder of 3000 inoccent civilians are being undermined by these sissies. 911 is only a generation ago and they are already forgetting it. We should always remember 911 and danger the islamist presents to our society

It’s extremely well known the hijackers were Islamic extremists.
NYT is doing the right thing. Let’s remember the victims and first responders, not the attackers today.

They were also Saudi nationals btw.A country our president conveniently did not include in his Muslim Ban policy—which was meant for “National Security”

Try - you should most remember the victims and sacrifice, but this is just an insult to the victims by saying “airplanes” did something 🤦‍♂️
