Algo trading/hedge fund vs big tech

Hedge fund if your close to revenue generating roles ; big tech otherwise ; just my understanding. It’s easy to transition both ways for swe but is hard for more quant / ml heavy roles

Algo trading pays better but it seems like there is a lot of domain knowledge required for the job that isn't taught in a traditional CS degree. Stuff like high level statistics, probability, finance, etc. You'd have to learn that on your own
