TL;DL, if you are a talented and motivated engineer looking for a growth opportunity to make a huge impact in shaping cloud computing, this is the opportunity you have been waiting for. Alibaba Cloud is looking for top engineers with at least 3 years experience working in world class organization to deliver innovative cloud services, and to globalize our services to become one of the world’s largest cloud infrastructures.

This is a hands-on position where you will be asked to do everything from building rock-solid components to formulate strategy and evangelize
technology, mentor other engineers and provide training and support for our supporting technologies.

And here are the answers to some frequently asked questions as I can't post anymore today.

1. You do NOT need to know Chinese, we especially welcome people with diverse background.
2. This position is in Bellevue, WA.
3. We currently only have hands-on software engineer position, aka. programmer.
4. We sponsor H1b transfer and green card.
5. We are hiring for the foreseeable future so please drop me a line whenever you are ready

Please reach out to me if you want to know more about it.

Could you comment on how the corporate culture in a Chinese company like Alibaba compares to big American tech companies (fang, apple, Microsoft , nvidia, etc)

But there is a strong dependency to HQ, isn't it?
Anyway, how would you characterize the culture ?

Everytime someone talks about a Chinese company here, people immediately say:
      A) work life balance is terrible
      B) people speak in Chinese all the time
      C) if you are not Chinese you are not getting promoted

I have never worked for one, so I refuse to just accept the rumors. What can you tell us about that? How does collaboration, performance reviews work there? Are they different or just the same as in any other company?

      Also, where in Bellevue?

Alibaba, what type of cloud infrastructure are you running? Hyper-v, vmware or something else? I'm looking to move to Seattle for family reasons and have about 4 years experiance with Microsoft server and hyper v.

Progamer or programmer? Both are 1 edit distance from programer. I am better in gaming than programming, so was hoping it was former.

FWIW, the contact mail I received from Alibaba had its subject written in Chinese, and the main body was written in Chinese first followed by English translation. This made me to think that I would only feel like second class citizen if I join Alibaba.

Do you have any Indian folk OP? I went to a top 20 school here and worked on distributed databases. Would love to touch base. All my managers at msft have been Chinese and I love it so far but some blind threads make it seem like you folk really hate us (maybe rightfully so) :(

That's what I expect hence the comment that growth opportunities are limited for non Chinese. Your condescending response tells me all I need to know about what it's going to be like working there as somebody who doesn't speak Chinese.

Actually it's mainly PowerShell. With recent slashing of IT budgets most cloud admins/engineers are managing large chunks of an environment, which is requiring automation for even the most basic tasks. Most hyper v admins I talk to now are primarily writing/running scripts. There is no way you can use a UI when your managing 2k plus vms.
