Alibaba is killing it in China but I've heard pretty little about Alibaba's current operations in the US. Any alibaba employees in the us? What's it like culture wise? How is compensation compared to us tech companies? What's the outlook for the future?

Also curious about other Chinese tech companies like tencent, Huawei, Baidu etc. any insights?

Leshi was such a joke. They were over the top, over ambitious, and unrealistic. I feel like alibaba tencent and other players are definitely not taking the same route and are rather under the radar in the valley

IMO tencent is the best. alibaba, huawei has bad reputation. huawei fires engineers when they reach 35 because it think they cant work hard any more.

Tencent is better, more product driven, Alibaba is sales driven and too much politic

in terms growth, alibaba now has strong competitors like jd.com, they are taking alibaba's market share. Also, tencent's wechat pay is as strong as alipay, and is still growing.
