Can/should we get to the point of all-in compensation, taking salary, equity, bonuses, and benefit value (health premiums, 401(k), FSA, fringe like cell/travel/car) into consideration as opposed to just the money we directly see coming? My hope would be to maximize transparency, bringing total cost [and by proxy, value] to business to light.
To me the biggest benefit that people lack to point out is the 401k. Matching can be huge (9k for msft Google etc) and if the mega backdoor Roth is allowed then it's over 50k of tax sheltered money you can set aside.
What about WLB? That is more imporant to so many people. I would say the only things that matter to me are WLB, base and RSUs.
This whole concept of employer provided benefits such as health insurance is ridiculous. Benefits such as free drinks or snacks make sense as it increases efficiency at work.
Agreed; it's the sad state of affairs we have to put up with in the USA. Americans always do the right thing... After exhausting all other options
Why? Even with Universal Healthcare, employer should have health benefits
