Prolly not for industry, but word of advice, get into tech sector if you want better pay. Pick up some coding and visualization, look up BI Engineer and Data Analyst comp online at tech firms. If you pass interviews you can likely get into 150k+ TC range.

Assuming you're in the bay area

Do you use Tableau or any other BI tool? If so, you are underpaid. I was paid that 2 yrs in, you should get into consulting.

With your YOE, I would go for $150k. If you learn how to use BI tools, you'll be worth much more.

Thanks for the feedback. I am pushing my manager to get me access to Tableau so I am hoping that get approve. I got reached out by a recruiter a while back and got interviewed for a consultant role. The hiring manager really liked my background but I didn’t have the 10 YOE for the job so they couldn’t consider me

Is your YOE all at the same place or have you worked at a couple healthcare orgs? Prior to our org adopting Tableau on the enterprise level, I used the free version to demo the capabilities of the program. If you can learn to build a robust KPI dashboard, people will start to listen. If not Tableau, you can always try PowerBI. You'll most likely need to use a dummy data set. I used fake E-Commerce data since costumers are synonymous to patients.

My YOE comes from different healthcare orgs.
3 years in a hospital doing SQL data mining for a EHR system migration. 1 year in a PPO medicare healthcare startup doing claims analysis and 1 year or so at my current role in an accountable care organization doing decision support. I have some background in Python and I have access to Python at work, but I don't utilize it to the fullest of my advantage. Did you use the demo version of Tableau to convince your company to invest in the enterprise version?

That's good to hear. Having a variety of different functions within healthcare grant a more well rounded foundation as an analyst IMO. The system migration you speak of sounds a lot like what I went through when we ditched LMR for EPIC. I did use the demo to convince them to adapt Tableau. It took about 6 months of playing around to get everyone on board, but in the end if you pioneer it, you'll be your org's Tableau Dev.

Would asking $150k+ for my next role as a senior analyst be too much on the same industry?

Check out LeanTaaS, software company that optimizes hospital efficiency, we can always use analysts with SQL and healthcare experience. Total Comp should be at least 20% higher maybe more. Feel free to reach out

Sector is notorious for low pay. Some of the biggest datasets and the lowest paid analysts. On par.
