Got offered the following offer for a L5 position at Seattle Base 150k Rsu: 240 units vests over 4 years (5/15/40/40) Signon 80k + 65k Is this offer reasonable? Not many datapoints for applied scientist roles on blind. My experience is a phd with a 1 year university post-doc. Thanks
What did you do ur PhD in ?
Are you sure it is L5, not L6?
AS are paid way higher than SDE
I have the same offer too, Masters + 3yrs experience
It’s good. I have a PhD plus one year and got 150 base, 100/75 bonus, 220 rsu (in September)
Still at AMZN?
These are really good joining bonuses. Will these bonuses be given if you are promoted from L4 to L5 as well? Or are these just for the initial offers?
My base and sign on were slightly higher but was told it was very strong, so yours is strong too.
This is part of the reason why I want to move to AS from SDE. I think they have a much higher TCT. The other reason is because AI is super fun and I like working with data. But I don't have a PhD, so maybe not. Trying to start a master's in Data Science at UIUC, but not sure if that will cut it.
I have been interviewed and saw the huge number of data scientist/machine learning engineers with MSc. Definitely you need to be really good. PhD is kinda bar raiser for the roles.
may i know what is “Rsu: 240 units vests over 4 years (5/15/40/40)” ? “units” means one share? so 240 units means 240 shares given on board stock price? thanks!

I haven’t done shit today!
This is an extremely strong L5 offer at Amazon.
It is not. It’s high for SDE but standard for AS. Even in Seattle I’ve seen AS2 hired with much better comp.
