I accepted an offer recently and i received an email which says "At the direction of AWS Compliance, we are required to verify if an international component is needed for the background check" from amazon background support (not 3rd party) Then, followed up with questions such as do you have SSN, addresses for the past 7 years Is this norm? (everyone is asked this?) I am US citizen by birth I am asking because i received an offer from Amazon last year as well (I didnt accept it) it went straight to 3rd party background check without being asked this.
Likely you were not asked because you didn't accept job. No need for them to do check.
AWS has been subject to spy software and has privacy concerns. This is normal
Super normal. I filled this out before I started.
How long did it take you to get the email after accepting the offer?

Wonder why I wasnt ask this last year. Maybe policy changed since then
Could be process or bg vendor change. So long as you don't have felonies or misdemeanors, what are you worried about?
