I’d appreciate some serious responses, instead of the usual banana jokes. My recruiter said that Amazon (I’ve specifically been offered a job at AWS, L5) employees have a portal to log into which gives them access to the list of employee perks & benefits such as gym membership discounts, cell phone discounts, etc. They won’t just give me the list of all of the discounts (they claim it’s too long lol) but will let me know about particular discounts if I tell her what I’m interested in. Can someone list some of the benefits available? For example, she told me about the 30% AT&T phone bill discount which is really great.
Serious 🍌
Banana is serious, because there is no other real benefits.
Amazon extras. Apart from few discounts on really expensive gyms and 30%off on bose, nothing great
So the 30% off ATT phone plans isn’t true?
I am on ATT and this is news to me. I think it's 30% off on data plan maybe? Coz I've used university/corporate discount before , and it's always on data plan. Either way you can get phone bill reimbursed upto 50$ apparently
Getting a corporate discount on a phone is expected. Most companies at this point pay for your entire bill, especially if you are in any kind of non-tech role.
What area are you in? You get almost $500/month for transportation and parking if you’re in the bay . There are a lot of other random discount codes like Bose, city passes, gym, phone, etc.
Seattle
I think Seattle only gets 🍌
One perk that I was surprised by is that they will pay the taxes on my relocation package. I’ve read horror stories of people getting stuck with a huge tax bill because of the expensive relocation package. My hiring manager said that they are paying the tax for me. Is that team/role defendant?
I don't think this is true..I just paid taxes on my bonus . Recently joined the company
They said sign on bonus is taxable but relocation is not. Ex-They are offering me 65 days of free corporate housing that I won’t have to pay tax on as extra income. I’ve read others say they owed extra taxes on the relocation packages.
Lol what they mean is that they won’t deduct taxes , you will pay it while filing refund . Source - ex Amazonian who relocated a while ago
No I specifically asked about that. They said they are paying the taxes on my behalf so I won’t have to pay when I file. Apparently it’s an extra perk to get me to accept the offer.
This is what my offer letter says. I’m not familiar with exactly what this means though.
Conflicting title.

They probably aren't that great. It is kind of like having a coupon book. If you are really frugal and enjoy clipping virtual coupons than you may enjoy some benefits, but it's not really Amazon giving you perks. It's economies of scale.
This is very true. I haven’t seen any useful benefits here (unless you count 10% employee discount up to $1000 each year, smh)
Yup. I'd confirm Google's suspicions. They're all things like 10-20% off things. Nothing that's really spectacular.
