Currently working as a data scientist at Bank of America. Looking to switch to a more technical industry. How rigorously do I need to prepare for a software developer or data scientist role at Amazon? Which of the 2 roles would be easier to get hired for?
DS: LP, easy-med LC, SQL, and domain stuff.
What's domain stuff? Like http protocol and port requirements?
It means if you interview for DS, they will ask things related to that area.
What is an example for DS domain expertise?

Google CFO confirms "large-scale" layoffs today (Apr 17)
Wouldn't the latter be a more reasonable transition?
I have work experience doing both. My school experience has been data science focused (bachelors and masters), but I am worried only phds are considered tech companies.
PHD is not required for DS at tech companies
