Hi All, I have an interview for the Business Intelligence Engineer position with Amazon and was wondering what to expect during the interview process. Also what’s the the total Compensation typically for a BIE5/6. TC: 125K YOE: 3.5

Thanks for taking the time to type a detailed response. Interesting move, however I completed my Masters and have DS skills, do you think moving to a DS role would make sense ?

Which team are you interviewing for?
Avoid. Role is being phased out by EOY 2019. All BIEs will become BAs which is considered a non technical position.. A select few BIEs who have a PhD or MS and strong data science skills will be moved to data scientist role. BIE is not a well respected role and generally ends up being Redshift DBA / SQL monkey job regardless what they tell you in the interview. Expect to be placed in a role where everyone is starved for resources and the expectation will be for you to write everyone elses sql beginning day one
I don't think it's being phased out. Infact, BA roles were recently eliminated and folks were asked to convert to a BIE or leave the team.
Really? I know they were going to kill one role but my understanding was BIE would die
