Hey y'all I am currently waiting for my onsite interview wuth Amazon, for the Data Engineer II position. The recruiter wants to know the expected compensation. I see a lot compensation reports for SDE but not DE positions. Are the levels like L4, L5 positions applied for DE's too? I have 3.5 years of experience in the DE domain and previously 2 years as a Software Developer. I currently have another offer for 135k (contingent on references ) but it is not from any of the FAANG/DU companies so I am not sure if I could use this as a negotiating factor Would anyone kindly let me know what level I would fall in and what could be a decent amount that I could ask for without the recruiter saying F*** off. And how does amazon determine my level? Is it just off of your leadership principle interviews? Also does my other offer hold any value while negotiating? Just wanted to open up a discussion. Let me know your thoughts
Lol. Interesting, good starting point is to ask for a TC of 250 and go from there, not usually a good idea to give the recruiter exactly what they're asking for ;)
I am not sure if you are being serious here. TC of 250? Also this is not for the bay area. But Dallas. That's the problem . I don't find a lot of DE compensation reports here. Also any idea what the range of equity given out for DE II position?
For Amazon DE 2 yes that's a very realistic TC to ask for when you are negotiating. You will probably get negotiated down because of Austin vs Seattle like you said. Good luck!
What did you end up getting ? @Otqt37
My onsite keeps getting rescheduled . Don’t know what’s happening though. I’m kinda losing steam 😟
How was your interviews ? I cleared first Telephonic and have a second round of technical telephonic screen coming up.
The second one would be more focused on your area of specialization or atleast for me. For me it was more of Hive optimization and spark streaming . Which location and position are you interviewing for?
I have the onsite interview scheduled for a couple of weeks from now and most of my interview panel comprises of software dev engineer as opposed to data engineer!! Even my hiring manger is SDE manager ! Is that normal? Is there no Escape from leetcode
Hi, Can you please share the final offer.
Why wouldn't you use that 135k offer when negotiating????
Holy Moly!! Someone replied !! The main reason I can't use the 135k is a)its not one of the FAANG companies so its all base b) So even if Amazon comes in and puts in an offer for like 110k, they could still argue that with the sign-in and the equity, its probably still more than what I get in the other place> It's just my thought process. let me now if you think differently
