Amazon Day One
Starting in 5 weeks, what should I expect on my actual "Day One"? I'll be at AWS.
What did they say when you asked them this same question?
Make a mental map of the buildings with most restroom stalls (if you are male) because that's the first (rather second) problem in Seattle.
I don't know where you are but in Blackfoot I rarely have any issue
Like most companies probably spend the whole day doing crap for HR and going through a million emails.
Your manager should pick you up and take you to lunch. You should get a launch plan document with where to look for documentation and a list of folks to meet with your first week. You'll also probably attend an afternoon Customer Connections training to better understand AWS' customers. If any of the above "shoulds" don't happen (nice lunch, launch plan), you might want to start looking at other teams.

You will get an old windows laptop and in a couple of hours will be given a project. This is the best you can expect from Amazon. Oh yeah and free banana 🍌 (only 1) if you are joining in Seattle.
Yup. You don't even get free soda at Amazon. Employees get treated like shit.
