What would you choose to start your career? What are the pros and cons for each of them?
How is this even a question? If you are smart enough to get offers from both, answer should be obvious to you in most cases. Besides you need to provide more information than just company names.
Google is more exclusive and makes more sense in the longer run. Amazon has better projects in most of the cases, you can change teams pretty fast if it is not the case. Although it loses out to Google on how they treat their employees. I wanted to know if people have some different arguments for/against each option.
@girikskm This makes total sense. Google is still perceived as the elite one and is definitely more exclusive. Thanks.
I would prefer Google.
I haven’t worked at either company, in the US or India. My opinions below are purely as an outsider looking in. It seems to me Amazon is a better place to start your career with. The whole company as a whole is doing great, and it has a relentless vision from top leadership. Yes, it might have bad office culture if you are unlucky, but since you’re young you should be more flexible with that. If you are hardworking, you should get rewarded. Google, unless you are extremely lucky to join an innovative product, most people seem to be polishing turds. Don’t get me wrong, these are very very smart people, but you can only spend so many years on improving autocomplete by 0.0001%. Personally, with just the information you have given, I’d recommend my younger brother to join Amazon.
If same level then Google, else the one with higher level and salary !!
