Google CFO confirms 'large-scale' layoffs (Apr 17)
Keen to know how easy it is to change job internally within Amazon. How long you need to stay in one team and in terms of compensation- does your comp stays same or you can negotiate a raise. Also, do you get any raise in Amazon particularly in AWS or whatever you negotiate during the job offer is where you stay for long if not forever.
There is no way to make more money other than to leave or to threaten to leave with an offer in hand and then possibly you might get a raise. Promos and high performance don’t really lead to meaningful pay increases.
Ok. During the interview, one interviewer told me there will be a raise every year for four years basically standard of living adjustment raise irrespective of performance. That guy was in manager position. Was he lying?
Yea, it’s like 1-2% which is below standard of living in US, and more to the point in the cities where Amazon employs.
You will get raises, but they won’t be big. Maybe like 3%, unless you do what Gonzalez said
Easy to switch teams.
