Lunch buddy is not an interview; it’s just lunch and you can ask them questions about what it’s like to work here. Amazon has no dress code; feel free to wear whatever you want.

Just whatever you feel comfortable interviewing in. Most candidates pick business casual attire.

This is the exact quote from the amazon recruiter for the onsite interview instruction

“The dress here is business casual, so wearing a suit is not necessary and strongly discouraged - please dress comfortably”

Wearing a suit will make you stick out like a sore thumb. Don’t wear a suit.

I wore a suit to my interview. I was probably the only person in the building wearing a suit, and it was a bit weird. Just where whatever you want.

I also wore a suit to my interview. I often wear a suit to work, at least during winter. I stand out as noone else in the building wears suits. It doesn't matter at all, but it provides a good ice breaker. Nobody cares what you wear.

Lunch buddies aren't part of the interview loop, don't enter feedback into the hiring tool, and don't participate in debriefs (where the decision is made). They exist solely to improve the candidate experience by providing a less formal opportunity for the candidate to learn about working at the company. Don't stress it, enjoy the free lunch, and ask all the questions you wouldn't ask Blind or your interviewers.

OP from Boeing ? I think I know which group you are interviewing for .. Lunch was pleasant and not a real interview. Got to know more about Seattle and the logistics of moving there

A lunch buddy won't give feedback unless you do something awful at lunch, like be racist, assault someone, stuff like that

I had an onsite interview at Amazon in Seattle before but it wasn’t during lunch hour. What I heard from others who had onsite interviews tell me that the interview during lunch was to gauge your personality and attitude in addition to asking you questions.

I would dress business casual to be safe so a button up and chinos should be fine.
