I applied on site for PM role. Recruiter immediately replied and scheduled my 1st interview for Tuesday. But now i feel I'm not prepared because i'm struggling to connect stories with unsaid leadership principles e.g. tell a story when you sacrificed short term goal for long term goal. 1st i need to realize that its 'ownership' leadership principle and then tell the story. I feel I'm not prepared because I'm taking a long time in thinking. Can i request to reschedule the interview ? Does it affect me negatively ? Any suggestions on preparing... i'm clueless how to immediately select 1 of my 15 stories based on question asked
Good luck!
Recently got into amzn, sde though. I think you will have more focus on LPs for a PM role as there will not be a coding portion in your interview. Write down your stories, say it to yourself in front of a mirror. There is an insane amount of time they spend on LPs.
Concentrate mainly on : customer obsession (how do you handle unhappy customer, tell me a time you did something based on customer feedback) Conflict management (how do you handle conflict with manager, subordinates/peers) Invest and simplify (most innovative work) Deep dive : they may ask a design scenario or your current project and deep dive into it. Also, some of my friends got a system design question in phone screen like (design an IVR application)
Thanks, was your friend interviewing for PM role
Yes
You can reschedule. It happens all the time. Is this PS for SDE? If so, the LP are not that important. They only get weighted heavier on onsite.
Still i want to do well so that i don't reduce my chances. I'm wondering what to say because he will say 'so you applied without preparing? ' And how much time do i ask for? (I know it depends on me but I'm confused, damn π₯ )
Of you are really worried ask to reschedule for next week. The LPs are vague enough that if you come up with 5 good stories to can cover all of them with those. PS will typical only ask one LP question.
