Amazon Job Offered Accepted - may not graduate
I have a pending job offer for the middle of spring as an SDE, but I may not graduate in December due to not having a general education requirement completed. Would Amazon employ me while I do this completely unrelated course online? Will the education even be verified? I interned there before, if it changes anything.
When I was an intern, the senior developer on my team told me I didn't have to graduate to come back. He didn't advise dropping out, but he said it was possible.
Make sure you have the degree. In case for filling for H1-B that matters. So don’t dropout for sure
The degree opens doors, and if you that close just get it. As far as Amazon goes... they aren’t expecting you to stay for more than 2 years. They basically don’t care. The next job may care. Or an HR drone there might care.
Finishing what you start is also quit nice. Walking at graduation with your friends and family is also a nice memory
You want to drop out because of some GE classes?
do not drop out, not when you're this close. that be would be insane. also, the top companies look for cs degrees, competition is insanely tough. You don't want to give them any reason to automatically pass you by.

I hadn't graduated from my masters when i joined. I graduated a year later. Nobody even knew or cared

I've been working here since June and I have been working on 4 credits online to finish my degree out this fall. My team let me fly back to Utah for a while to present a project at school. Also doing GE stuff which is dumb, but I used it as a recruiting trip as well. I recommend finishing. You don't have really any blockers do you?
Doubt we care, but you should contact them and prioritize finishing it. We have so many sde-1 spots that it's hard to imagine a spot would disappear. I wouldn't sweat it.
Simple answer seems like you should talk to them about it. Given that you have an existing relationship and that this seems like a pretty small thing, hard to imagine they won’t help work out a solution with you. Do not try to hide this from them. The potential downside is way too big.
