Cleared Amazon L6 SDM interview and had an initial pre-offer discussion with the recruiter. (TC still pending) The joining bonus as I understand looking at posts here on Blind is paid monthly now and not in a single paycheck in the beginning of Yr 1 & Yr 2. Qs -- Is the Year 1 bonus amount paid in all of first 12 months of you joining, followed by Year 2 bonus amount paid in months 13-24 from the joining month? Example --> Year 1 JB: $120K; joining month: March 2019; March 2019 - February 2020 = $10K/month Year 2 JB: $60K; March 2020 - February 2021 = $5K/month Or did I get the concept of 'pro-rated' wrong?! Current TC on East Coast: ~$200K YoE: ~8 Years
It just gets paid as part of your paycheck. So it’s biweekly and not monthly.
@UUVv22 - thanks, but I understand the bi-weekly part..that's standard. If you can help by commenting on the first 12 & then the next 12 months of payment?
The bonus is broken up into equal payments that are spread across all of your paychecks throughout the year. If you get paid monthly, divide by 12. If you get paid weekly, divide by 26. Note that there is actually a small additional payment at the end of the year, because you "earn" it daily but get paid in chunks, and neither 12 nor 26 divide evenly into 365.
@munk - super thanks! Follow-up, just to confirm: So even if I join in March 2019 then I will get the 1st year bonus untill February 2020?!
Yes. Then the second year bonus kicks in.
My recruiter told me joining bonus will give as a full amount in first paycheck.. If I leave, it'll be paid back by me of the months remaining out of 12. Also pay cycle is monthly not biweekly
Some people get paid monthly and some get paid biweekly/fortnightly. It depends on your physical location and org. And I don't know of anyone getting lump sum signing bonuses. What org?
Prime video (Seattle) .. Offer letter mentions clearly that it'll all be in 1st paycheck.
