Amazon : L5
FB : E4
Current TC 285 bay area but in a tier 2 company
which one makes more sense?
Amazon : L5
- Is it really worth $40k less a year to work at Facebook? I would have thought moral there would be low
- Assuming current amazn price take Amazon. Average compensation over the next 4 years for Amazon (160*4+250*1.5+200)/4=303.75 vs facebook (150*4+3000+40)/4=235.
- Seattle is littered with former Amazon employees for a reason. They get lured to Seattle based on offers that look great on paper but turn out to be less so.
Amazon has a target comp for each level. They frequently hire people above their target comp. When this happens, you get no bonuses, no raises and no refreshers regardless of how you do. Meanwhile everyone else in the industry is getting 5% or more in annual raises (this compounds) and 10% or more in annual bonuses plus annual refreshers. You very quickly discover you would have been better off going somewhere else.
None of this captures their horrible attitude towards employees. Employees are a resource to churn and burn. They don't care about your health, happiness or growth.
- Amazon. Seattle is still cheaper than the bay and that is a lot of cash. Plus do you really want to work for FB now?
