Have been offered L6 PMT role though interviewed for L7 by existing L7/L8 of Amazon team. Not sure I understand why as I have people management, Senior leader in current role plus relevant job experience. Appreciate any reasons why this could happen? Since role is interesting level is not a concern but concerned about the compensation. Existing TC (Base+Bonus) ~$270K projected to go to ~$300K shortly. Would Amazon be able to offer atleast ~$350K (Base+Bonus)TC at L6? What's reasonable expectation Stock/RSU's at senior L6 ?

Bay or Sea and YOE? You were downleveled because they didn’t think you raised the bar for L7. Just because you are senior or have people manager experience at Intel doesn’t mean other companies will consider you senior talent. It’s harsh but it happens frequently. I would push for the level if at all possible or decline and keep playing golf at Intel. L6 won’t get you to 350k. Google the Amazon comp model.

Thank you for insights. It would be likely SEA. Does it makes difference? Overall 16+ yoe and 8 of which is PM. Is it possible to negotiate level ? Should it be with hiring manager or Recruiter?

PMT Seattle offers for L6 tops at $300k. Likely the initial offer will be $250k, and after negotiation you can get to $300k.

      L7 PMT is $325k-$375k

Don't under any circumstances let them Downlevel you.
It's crazy hard to be promoted to L7 internally, you're better off respectfully declining this offer and interview again in 6 months time.

With 16yoe you can definitely do better.

Can members help guide who to pursue level negotiation? Recruiter seems binary in their approach. Take it or leave it. Could they give L7 salary range at Higher end of L6 if they don’t move the needle on Level.

I doubt Seattle L6 PM-T will pay $350K. You should decline and re-apply. Ask for feedback from the recruiter on why you did not raise the bar and then try to improve on that.

Negotiating level is not possible, but there is a process to get comp exceptions to pay an L6 like an L7. Requires vp approval though. I’d assume 300 tops.
