Amazon L6 Product Mgr exit options

Amazon / Product DontSay

Currently an L6 Product Mgr non-tech at Amazon and looking to explore options outside of Amazon. As part of my current role, I work with devs actively but the role is classified as a non-tech PM. Is it easy to find PM roles at FB/G as their PM roles are supposed to be far more technical ?

Also, what would be the equivalent level at FB/G. I know that it maps somewhere between E4 and E5 at FB/G but can I get E5 with only 2 years of product experience, given that my prior experience in Product Analytics was also highly correlated with PM work ?

What would some other exit options that can offer me a higher TC ?

TC - 200k
yoe - 6 (2 as Product Mgr, 4 as a Product Analyst)
Location - Seattle

TC will be around 180-200. L5 can be 250-300

What is the usual time frame to go from L4 to L5 at FB ? Is it as difficult as going from L6 to L7 at Amazon ?

      12-24 months is common.

Thank you for the details. Is E4 to E5 a huge step up at FB in terms of responsibility ? Even in the scenario that I clear the interview loop, I do not want to set myself up for failure by accepting a job with significantly more responsibility than my current role. I would much rather spend another couple years at Amazon and apply to an E5 role then

No. 5–>6 is a huge delta

You can get PM at FB. You will be leveled at L4 unless your interview experience is exceptional

Sounds like L4 at G as well. You'd get hired if you can pass the tech interview (not hard unless you get unlucky). Much more about technical intuition than coding.

I have a bachelors in CS so I don’t think clearing the technical bar should be a problem. What is the pay range at L4 and how long does a promotion from L4 to L5 take on average ?
