I got an offer from Amazon. I have 15yr total experience and currently 4th year at Apple. Currently at Apple: Operations PM (Bay area) Base: 150K Annual cash and RSU bonus: 190K Amazon: Operations PM at L6 (Bay area) Base: 170K Sign-on cash bonus 210K over two years RSU ~250K vesting 5%, 15%, 40%, 40% What would you target to negotiate with Amazon? I’m not sure if there is RSU refresh after year 4.
No meaningful refresh just for refresh sake. You will have a target based on your rating and will be given stock vesting 2 years out to maintain that target (unless the stock grew, in which case no grant since Wall Street gave you your raise). The fun cherry on top is, unless you get the top rating, your target will be bottom of the band for your role/level. Comp target is NOT sticky and comp is NOT monotonically increasing at Amazon, even if you get promoted (and definitely not without promo). You’ve been warned
You’ll see this explained in the offer letter as well. Each year (starting year 2) you will have a annual performance review and if your base salary is not at cap then you are eligible for a base salary pay raise, depending on your performance rating of course. If you are capped then you will might get stocks instead. Each year (starting year 3) you will get a stock grant that vests in 2 yrs (year 3 grant vest in year 5, etc) based on your TCT. The TCT is based on your performance rating that was given during your annual performance review.
