Is there a minumum YOE for external hires per level? I was approached by an L8 for an L7 position, however I only have 6 YOE. The formal job posting says 10+ but obviously L7 tends to have people with 15+ based on the interweb. I cant help but think this is an oversight by them which may be a deal breaker later on in a loop. This is for a untypical specific/niche, non-sde management role that deals alot with the engineering world. Other than YOE I meet the listed job requirements. I’ve refrained from asking the recruiter/manager themselves as I don’t want to call any attention to it. Thoughts? Has anyone heard of someone coming in at this rank with this low of YOE as an external hire before?

They will down level you to L6 unless you do perform exceptionally well in the interviews.
Figured this might happen. Annoying since L7 comp would match my current comp and L6 (based on extrapolated % L6 & L7 differences) would probably be a deal breaker then. Thanks.
I'm surprised you'd consider moving to Amazon at L7 if it would only match your current comp tbh
